Getting the Best from the Form

When filling in the form you should try and provide as much information as you can.

Surname : This is vital for most of the records searched. We can search on some variants of the name too.

First Name : Though this isn't vital, it can help produce more accurate results when searching Census substitutes.

Occupation : Giving this will provide more accurate search results.

County : The County is important if the Report is to provide you with County specific information. By leaving it blank, you will only receive information from Griffith's Valuation, Landowners in Ireland in 1876, Pender's Census, the Muster Rolls and Emigration Lists.

Parish : Knowing the Parish is of great value. This will narrow your search to a relatively specific area. It will provide you with a description of the Parish from the mid 1800's detailing for example; Landlords, Schools and Churches.

Townland : Of even more value than the Parish, as it's narrows the location even further, increasing the chance of an exact match.

City/Town/Village : Entering this will provide a description of the area in the 1800's and increase the chances of an accurate match.

Text Box : In the text box provided give any additional information you can. For example; a date of birth. death, marriage relating to the name entered on the From.  A father's or Children's name. A date of emigration with port of departure and destination if known.
