The
status, well being and security for any person in Ireland
during the 18th and 19th Century depended almost entirely
on the land. Land meant power. From the Landed Gentry with
many thousands of acres gaining an income from those farming
the land, to the farmer with only the smallest patch of land
to harvest barely enough potatoes each year to feed his
family.
What we will try to do in this section is create an impression
of what life was like for three types of people in Irish Society
in the 1800's. The three people are a Landlord, Tenant Farmer
and Landless labourer.
